LBG (Liquidfied Biogas) is the sustainable variant of LNG (liquefied natural gas). LBG is mainly used for heavy transport, shipping and off-grid applications.
Up to 80% CO2 savings, improving air quality
50% less noise and vibration, so you can sometimes load and unload outside of window times
A litre of Bio-LNG is cheaper than a litre of diesel
There are LNG trucks that can cover 1,500 kilometres on one tank
Bio-LNG is the sustainable variant of LNG (liquefied natural gas). Bio-LNG is mainly used for trucks and coaches that need to travel longer distances and for shipping. An LNG vehicle reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared with diesel.
At present, OG does not sell any Bio-LNG itself. However, this will always be sourced or produced as locally as possible.
CLEAN AND SAFE DRIVING
Bio-LNG is a clean fuel that can reduce CO2 by up to 80% compared to diesel. Driving on Bio-LNG gives you a good range.
There are LNG trucks that can cover 1500 kilometres on 1 tank. The refuelling time is no longer than that for fossil fuels.
An LBG/LNG vehicle meets high safety requirements. In the tank, Bio-LNG is free of oxygen, so that explosion and ignition are not possible.
FUEL SAVING
A litre of LBG is cheaper than a litre of diesel. It can also save trucks a lot of money in Germany, where LNG trucks do not have to pay maut (German road tax)! These trucks are also 50% quieter, which means you can load and unload outside window times. More and more clients are asking for clean transport, and by driving on LBG you can lay claim to these new contracts.
The purchase of an LBG truck is more expensive. Depending on the number of kilometres driven and the above-mentioned advantages, the extra investment can be earned back. In fact, you can even save money by driving on Bio-LNG.
LNG TANKING
LNG refuelling is different from what you are used to. The drivers are required to follow a refuelling instruction first. The drivers are required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, cryogenic gloves and closed shoes. Covered arms and legs are also mandatory. OG offers instruction from the opening of the first filling stations.
There are currently few or no suppliers of Bio-LNG. However, several LNG suppliers have indicated that they intend to sell Bio-LNG in the near future. You can fill up both Bio-LNG and LNG with the same truck. You can currently find the network of LNG filling stations via the LNG Platform.
The infrastructure is also improving in the surrounding countries. As a result, more and more transporters are opting for LNG/LBG. For all refuelling locations abroad, please click here:
VEHICLES
There are many different suppliers of well-known brands supplying LNG/Bio-LNG trucks and coaches.
There are possibilities to have your truck converted. An additional tank is then installed so that you can run on dual fuel (i.e. diesel and Bio-LNG). Incidentally, not many people choose this option because sufficient suppliers now supply LNG-powered vehicles ex-factory. The advantage to be gained from driving on Bio-LNG lies mainly in the fuel costs.
The advantage is greatest when driving a factory-built Bio-LNG truck. Bio-LNG is not a common fuel for passenger cars and vans.
