Bio-CNG (Biogas) is a 100% clean fuel made from waste and is therefore a sustainable alternative for fossil natural gas. By driving on Bio-CNG you not only reduce CO2 emissions but you also save on your fuel costs.
Find out what the possibilities and advantages are for you!
Save up to 40% on your fuel costs compared to diesel.
Up to 90% CO2 savings, improving air quality.
Large selection of new models and used cars.
With 180 Bio-CNG stations throughout the Netherlands, there is always a station nearby.
Biogas is the sustainable variant of CNG. The source is sewage treatment, waste processing and organic waste. By driving on Biogas you contribute to a cleaner planet. Good for the environment and for you. Don't you want that too?
CHEAPER AND QUIETER
The clean fuel Biogas is cheaper than traditional fuels. You can travel 500 km on Bio-CNG for just € 25. With petrol you quickly pay €52 for this distance and with diesel you pay €33 (figures based on a VW Polo, 2019). Compared to petrol, Biogas saves more than 40% on fuel costs.
Another additional advantage of Bio-CNG is that trucks that run on this fuel are 50% quieter, which means you can load and unload outside of window times. In addition, trucks do not have to pay road tax (maut) in Germany, which can save transporters a lot of money.
90% LESS CO2 EMISSIONS
OG exclusively sells 100% Bio-CNG at all its filling stations. Because Bio-CNG from OG is captured biologically, it is a very sustainable energy source. When you drive on Bio-CNG, there is virtually no CO2, nitrogen, particulates or NOx released. Another advantage of driving on Biogas is that the gas is supplied through the gas network. This means that no trucks have to drive to deliver the gas to the filling stations. This is safer and also more environmentally friendly!
BIO-CNG PRODUCTION LOCATION
OG has three production sites, two of which are at Waterschap Amstel, Gooi and Vecht in Amsterdam and Mijdrecht, and one location in Beverwijk at Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier (HHNK).
In the process of water purification, sludge is the residual product. Biogas is released from sludge. OG upgrades this to the right quality and then injects it into the gas network. OG is in the process of building a third biogas production location in the Netherlands.
YOUR WASTE, OUR FUEL
Did you know that your waste is used to make Bio-CNG? This can be done via sewage treatment, waste processing and VGF. OG has 3 own locations in the Netherlands where Bio-CNG is produced. This will be further expanded in the coming years. There is so much (organic) waste in the Netherlands that 1.4 billion cubic metres of Biogas can be produced. Every year, 1.3 million passenger cars can drive on this (an average of 14,000 km). That means a reduction of around 16.5 million tonnes (Mt) of CO2 emissions. And this is only on the basis of Biogas.
A car running on Bio-CNG does not drive any differently. Driving a Bio-CNG vehicle is comparable to driving a petrol vehicle. However, a Bio-CNG vehicle is quieter than a petrol vehicle. To run on Biogas, the car must be fitted with a CNG tank. It is also possible to have your current petrol car converted to a Bio-CNG installation. The average range of a car running on Biogas is between 300 and over 500 km.
For delivery vans, there are sufficient models available both ex-factory and occacionally. Biogas is also highly suitable for waste collection and transport trips of up to 600 kilometres. Driving on Biogas is suitable for everyone
BIO-CNG REFUELLING LOCATIONS
In the Netherlands Bio-CNG (Biogas) can currently be refuelled at more than 180 locations. OG is the market leader in this field and our filling stations are spread across the country and around the major cities. See here the refuelling locations in the Netherlands.
In many European countries you can also fill up with CNG. There are currently around 3910 CNG stations in Europe. Italy is the European champion with 1385 CNG stations. Germany is next with 803 CNG stations, where OG is market leader with more than 125 stations. In the Czech Republic there are 208 CNG stations and Sweden has 196 CNG stations. OG now has five filling stations in Sweden, and two filling stations with Bio-CNG and fast chargers are planned on the island of Öland. OG is also planning to open stations in Belgium and Italy. See here the OG filling stations abroad. For an overview of all filling stations abroad, visit the gibgas or ngva website.
CNG en CNG+
CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas and is natural gas under pressure. CNG produced from the Dutch natural gas network contains 78% methane. CNG+ is made by compressing and heating liquid LNG.
CNG+ made from LNG contains around 95% methane. This means that up to 20% more kilometres can be driven on this fuel (CNG+) than on CNG from the Dutch natural gas network. In collaboration with DCB Energy, OG has CNG+ locations in Den Hoorn, Europoort Rotterdam, Venlo and Borne. CNG+ will soon also be available at Schiphol Airport.
