Volkswagen has two commercial vehicles running on Bio-CNG. The Volkswagen Caddy and the Caddy Maxi. The new Volkswagen Caddy Maxi is an EcoFuel version. The 1.4 TGI engine meets the Euro 6 standard. Compared with their predecessors, the new EcoFuel models are 28% more economical and 25% more powerful. In addition, Bio-CNG is up to 40% cheaper than petrol. Moverover, the EcoFuel models are eligible for various regional subsidies, as well as the MIA investment deduction.

The new 1.4 TGI engine in the Caddy and Caddy Combi EcoFuel produces 81 kW/110 hp. This model is 28% more economical then its predecessors. The 1.4 TGI enginge is combined with a six-speed gearbox (predecessor: 5-speed) and a start/stop system. The average usage of the Caddy EcoFuel is 4.1 kg Bio-CNG/100 km (predecessor: 5.7 kg/100 km). This corresponds to the CO2 emissions of 112 g/km (predecessor: 156 g/km). The usage and the CO2 emissions for the larger Maxi models are higher.*

The Caddy and Caddy Combi EcoFuel have four CNG tanks that are compact and safely mounted under the hood. As in the predecessor, the capacity is around 26 kg Bio-CNG. Due to its lower usage, its range has increased significantly, namely from 440 to 610 km on H-gas. The larger Maxi versions have a capacity of around 37 kg Bio-CNG, good for 760 km on H-gas (predecessor: 550 km). In addition, a gasoline tank with a capacity of 13 liters is available for emergencies.
